Terra Bella is located in south-central Tulare County approximately 7.5 miles south of Porterville and 26 miles southeast of Visalia, the county seat. Terra Bella lies adjacent to State Highway 65 and 30 minutes from the Highway 99 corridor.. A railroad line runs north-south through the community.

Terra Bella is predominantly rural and its industry is mostly agriculturally-related, with packing houses and cold storage facilities located nearby and many citrus groves in the area. In recent years Terra Bella has also become home to a large pistachio processing facility and a winery.
